Prof. Craig wrote the following letter to the participants in this network on March 3, 1998.
In order to collate and report on activities in the above research area, I would like you to provide me with information on the following :
Name, institute, details of associated researchers
2. Name of project and details on funding
3. Whether involved in development, assessment and/or application
4. Approach being used - immunodiagnostic- nucleic acid probe- other
5. Description of reagents developed and details of specificity and sensitivity for E. granulosus and E. multilocularis.
6. Application(s) of reagents/probes/tests: in which hosts and regions ? for what purpose ?
7. Whether commercial or standardized kits/tests have/are being developed.
I would hope to organise a workshop on detection of Echinococcus in definitive hosts at the next Hydatidology Congress (September 1999 Argentina) and/or at the EMOP VIII Poznan meeting (September 2000)Please respond if possible by 13 April. After collation of activities I will prepare a report/document to be circulated.
